Boat service history

Your boat’s service history, kept with the hull.

Buyers, surveyors and insurers all ask the same thing: what has been done to this boat, and when. BoatRealm keeps the answer on one page tied to the hull identification number.

What buyers look for in a service history

A service history earns trust when it is complete, dated and backed by paperwork. The questions that come up on almost every sale are:

  • When were the engines last serviced, and at how many hours?
  • When was the bottom last painted, and the running gear checked?
  • What has been replaced or repaired, and by whom?
  • Are there receipts for the big jobs?

Why the hull number matters

Boat names change and owners change. The hull identification number (HIN) does not. It is the 12-character number on the upper right of the transom, and it names the builder, the build date and the model year.

On BoatRealm every record is tied to the HIN, so the service history stays with the boat when it is sold, and the next owner keeps adding to it.

Sharing it when you sell

  • Share a read-only Hull Record link with a buyer, broker or surveyor.
  • Print a records PDF with every dated job and receipt.
  • List the boat for sale on BoatRealm for free, with the service history attached.
